Master Painted Miniatures
So you're looking for looking at buying miniatures for war games or whatever, and you keep seeing ads that include the term "master painted".
What does it mean?
Well, it basically means one of two things:
- the miniature was painted by a pro with a high degree of skill, or
- someone just has a high opinion of their painting skills, but aren't really that good.
In other words, just because the ad says the miniature was "master painted" doesn't necessarily mean the paint job is an excellent piece of work.
You have heard of false advertising, right?
Or to give people a break, maybe they really think they're doing a great job but are really overly enthusiatic about their own work.
So if you're looking to buy already painted miniatures, and the ad says "master painted," don't take that as a guarantee they paint job is totally excellent. Look at pictures of the item closely.
It might also be a good idea to place a small order with that vendor the first time, so you can see first hand what kind of paint job is done before investing large amounts of money on a big order.
Another option is to expand your hobby and get into painting miniatures yourself. FOUNDRY MINIATURES PAINTING AND MODELING GUIDE is an excellent resource to learn about this. You may find it's an rewarding hobby, and enhances your enjoyment of your miniatures to know you painted them yourself!
