Mage Knight

A miniatures wargame that uses collectible figures, Mage Knight was created by Jordan Weisman and Kevin Barrett of WizKids, Inc. This was the first game to use the Wizkids Clix System. It combines roleplaying and wargaming elements along with aspects of collectible card games.
Instead of rulebooks and tables, Mage Knight integrates a dial into each figure that contains its current combat statistics, including:
- movement rate,
- combat damage,
- attack and defense values, and
- special abilities.
The combat dial doesn't allow for quite as much versatility as most other miniatures games. Players cannot customize their figures, for instance. However, this system faciliates rapid gameplay quite nicely. Also they have a large number of distinctive figures.
Each figure has a different point value, and as in most miniatures games, each player assembles an army of equal point value. During gameplay they take turns moving and attacking. The winner is declared when:
- the other army is annilihated, or
- the opponent withdraws, or
- the time limit decided upon is up.
The combat dial is quite popular and used in WizKids's other games, including Heroclix and MechWarrior. The dial allows a figure's displayed statistics to change as it takes damage.
