The Forgotten Realms

.
.
If you like Dungeons & Dragons, you have probably heard of The Forgotten Realms. It's a campaign setting that is commonly referred to by players and game designers alike as "The Realms".
.
.
Game designer Ed Greenwood created Forgotten Realms sometime around 1967 as a setting for his childhood stories. He brought the setting to Dungeons & Dragons many years later, first as a series of magazine articles, then later in 1987 the first Realms game products were released.
.
.
The Forgotten Realms supposedly exists beyond Earth, and once was closely connected. But people of Earth forgot about it as time passed, one of the reasons it's called the FORGOTTEN Realms.
.
.
The Forgotten Realms is one of the most popular D&D settings.
.
.
One of the reasons it has gained popularity is because of novels by authors such as R. A. Salvatore using this setting. These books are popular even with people who have no interest in Dungeons & Dragons.
